How I Started Meditating
And how you can easily incorporate meditation into your life
I started meditating when I didn’t even know what meditation means.
It was my final year in university. A stressful period for sure: Running against the deadline to finish my dissertation. Attending classes. I also had a part-time job. The fear that I won’t land a good job after graduation was also becoming a constant worry at the back of my mind. To add to that my 6-year relationship with my then boyfriend had just ended. There were many decisions I had to make. And I had to make them ASAP. Stay in the UK or leave? Stay in a job I hate or look for another job?
I remember what I longed for most during this period was just silence and alone time.
My days were long and gruelling. My typical day would start at 5 a.m. and end between 11 p.m. to midnight. I was either in the library finishing my class assignments, or working on my dissertation, or at my part-time job, or job hunting and attending interviews. There was no time for anything else.
I would come home from the library at around 10 p.m. Take a quick shower. Prepare whatever else I needed to be ready for the next day, and just sit for about 30 minutes before going to bed. These 30 minutes was my time…
